Not a really good combination for a blogger, huh? Let’s update you on The Joy of Skye’s World…
- Skye now has a boy from Greenville, AL calling her daily. At least he is far enough away not to be too much of an issue and I can always block his phone number if he gets to be too much of a nuisance.
- Skye shot her personal match best last Saturday! 279/400 (69.75%) She really needs to be shooting 80% in matches to competitive, but this was a big jump for her. Hopefully she will keep improving and earn a medal in Rosenberg next month. Didn’t want to send her to Nationals this year, but will send her to 3x Air in Colorado Springs in December.
- Got to start my week by hosing out the kennel, washing the dog, me, my comforter (which is leaking feathers and needs to be replaced) and rescuing my teddy bear from said dog all by 6:30 Monday morning. The rest of the week has got to be better.
- Father’s Day – my dad insisted on taking my family and brother out to dinner and paying for it himself. Said he had never done that for his kids and said since it was Father’s Day, he could do what he wanted. Got him the robe stepmom said he needed, but gave little brother the idea for the “cool present” this year. Sucks being the considerate one sometimes.
- Stepmom’s B-day is tomorrow. Got her a Kodak photoframe so she can show off pics of the youngest 2 grandbabies and will cook steaks there Sunday (originally FD dinner plans, but youngest step-sis couldn’t get any rest with her 4 week old baby and needed her mom. Am I bitter? No, but I was working part-time when Skye was a week old and managed with just me and my DH).
- Got a good review at work, but doing A&A right now which is my least favorite part of tax accounting, If you don’t know what it is, consider yourself lucky.
Think I have hit most of the highlights of the last week or so. Enjoying my farm on Facebook, the RPG my BTT kids have included me on and thinking I need to catch up on all of the girls’ blogs.

You know what kind of day it has been when I tell you I looked in the mirror of the ladies’ room at work and the angle was such that I saw the tax auditor I was dealing with taking care of business. The day did not get any better.
The storm has ended and the transformer didn’t blow which is amazing considering the sparks arcing off of it into the trees. Well, I thought it ended, but there is still lightening – oh well.
Maybe tomorrow will be a better a day.

Yup, going to whine today. Dog had a 1o minute seizure to start my day, but at least FRC was home with us and off today. Duh had company during and afterwards and someone to give him meds. Of course, I found out the meds I told FRC to give Duh were not the same ones waiting at the pharmacy for the other dog that the vet suggested giving him… oh well…. anti-anxiety meds vs valium… guess I will give him the valium before bed tonight.
Doing clean up at work today – cleaning up other people’s screw ups and documenting things for future audits. Won’t get my review until Thursday, but my bonus calculation was waiting for me when I came in today so I already know how my review will go. Looks like bonuses are being cut for the year, but that’s not surprising. At least we are still getting them and raises. Probably 3% but won’t complain since it should cover the insurance increase (I hope).
Think I am going to go find the ice cream I bought and not worry about Wed’s weigh-in. Hormones will negate any lost weight anyway so might as well crawl into my chocolate with no guilt!

School is out – summer vacation has started. Took Friday as a vacation day to spend with Skye and get some other things done. One dog got to spend time at the groomer and the other was supposed to get his teeth cleaned and have a growth removed from one of his ears. Vet started to sedate him and called me with the estimate for his ear (biopsy, meds, etc) – $500+ – and I had to postpone him for a couple of weeks. Of course, that left me doggie with a drug hangover.
Went to Legacy Books and had loads of fun and then took Skye to Ikea and found a few little things we needed. Did enjoy the Bath & Body Works sale! Stocking up on plug-ins and shower gel for the next 6 months while it is cheap. Went to dinner at Cozymel’s last night with FRC – worst meal I have had out in ages. Had to send my food back since it was cold and FRC is still having tummy troubles from his chicken. Bass Pro was so full of morons that even FRC didn’t want to stay long and came home in time for poor Duhkota to have a seizure. Have spent time cleaning house today and being very CDO about some things. How many people clean the crack between the edge of their cabinet and the floor with a toothpick? Have clean clothes for the week and an audit scheduled to start Tuesday.
How much more fun can any one Mom ask for?

…since I last posted, but things have been hectic. Skye’s got finals tomorrow and Thursday and then out for the summer. What to do with a teen all summer while I work? I’m sure she will have lots of ideas.
Duhkota started his thyroid meds today. Twice a day every day and more blood work in 45 days to see if it is working. He’s gained 20 lbs in the last 6 months – ouch! For my new followers, Dakota is my now 120 lb blue doberman who is dumber than a stump but sweet as can be. He thinks he’s a lapdog and thinks he should sleep in bed with me rather than my husband. He goes back to the vet Friday for teeth cleaning and to have spot growths removed from his ears. The vet is concerned they are cancerous.
Skye got her plaque for the State Championship match – now we have 2! Hope she earns some medals at the Rosenburg matches (July and Aug), but she needs to get through our home match in June first. She has improved a lot though in the last few weeks and I think she is finally “getting it”.
Work is work – what can I say? I swear I go there some Mondays just to rest. PTA will be over for a few weeks since school is almost out and I will be glad for the break. My coupons are overflowing, the laundry is actually reasonably caught up and Skye has new bras. The Joy of Bra Shopping with a teen! B&BW is having their semi-annual sale so I will probably spend too much time and money there, but it’s cheaper than Barnes & Noble!
I’m tired of posting and you are probably tired of reading so I will try to be better and maybe participate in JUNORIMO (or whatever it’s correct name is) like some of my younger friends!

I hope everyone had a nice day! Mine was quiet which was probably good.
Raven aka the Spray Kitty should be adjusting to his new home now. He moved to a farm in Abilene with my vet’s dad in order to chase rats, rabbits and roadrunners. I think he will be much happier out there and I won’t need to worry about him being outside in the city. This is the first time in my life I have not had a cat so it is definitely an adjustment. Sorry but dogs are just not the same.

And it’s not even from my teen! I don’t understand why adults can’t act like adults instead of middle school students. If you are a teen, he said/she said and needing an intermediary is a normal thing because you probably cannot coherently express your thoughts and chronically stick your foot in your mouth. If you are an adult, please act like one and think before you say something. ESPECIALLY in an email. OR to a teen. Needless to say, I have a headache caused by people who are not playing well with others and I want to just go and Mom on them all. Unfortunately, that is not in my best interests right now so I guess I will sit back and see how this plays out.
I think my biggest problem with one of the characters in today’s drama is the fact that he has no children and yet has expressed that my daughter’s problems/issues at practice are from poor parenting at home. Not from his coaching style or the fact that he told her he would not coach her anymore (because she was acting like a typical teen), but from my parenting skills. And now it is time to go to practice and see what additional drama unfolds.
Wish me luck or at least a glass of wine when I get home!
UPDATE
WOW – they all managed to act like grown-ups tonight! Hooray!

This was an unplanned move but Barb and Toni-Lynn are helping me set up my new home. Thanks so much ladies! If something doesn’t work, please let me know. Otherwise, I am going to be playing with different features to see what I can do here!

Yup, it happens to adults too. I haven’t had my shower yet and have been here on the computer for the last 2 hours. I did get the flyer done for the Shooting Stars Raffle, but that’s it. I need to be doing laundry, some reports for PTA, dishes and just general cleaning. I need to go to Target and bay hangers too so I can finish sorting out my closet. Then there is the pile of laundry on my kitchen table. I won’t post a pic, but the table is 4 feet long and the pile of clean laundry to be folded and/or hung up is about 3 feet high. I’m assuming it is all still clean laundry but the spraying cat has been in the house recently. I left the dryer open and went back for clean undies the other day – luckily there were only a few left in there since I had to rewash them.
I really want to get rid of the cat, but I feel guilty about that. He’s a really sweet cat, but he does not do well inside my house. He sprays people and things and yes, he is fixed. He’s great outdoors, but I worry something will happen to him one of these days. My step-daughter brought him home when one of her friends found him in a dumpster as a kitten. I didn’t ask for him, but what was I supposed to do? I already had 2 cats I liked…
I guess I should be done whining for now. Maybe I will do some design changes here…

it’s Wednesday. UGH – is it over yet? Can I go to sleep yet? Skye is sharing her mac & cheese with me and I have a book I am finishing so will probably curl back up with it and the dog soon. Other than that, it’s just been a tedious week. What can I say? Being a Grown Up is highly overrated.
